Korean skeleton 'new ace' Jeong Seung-gi won a world championship medal for the first time in his life.

Jeong Seung-gi placed third in the men's skeleton event at the 2022-2023 International Bobsleigh Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Championships, which ended in St. Moritz, Switzerland, with a total time of 4 minutes 31 seconds 17 in the 1st to 4th periods, and won a bronze medal.

Jeong Seung-gi was in 4th place, just 0.01 seconds behind 3rd place in the 1st and 2nd period races held on the 26th, raising expectations for the prize.

By the time the 3rd trial was completed on the 26th (local time), Jeong Seung-gi was still in 4th place, but in the last run, he rose to 3rd place with an outstanding record of 1:07:59, which is 3rd place among all players.

He was only 0.01 second behind Craig Thompson (Great Britain) in fourth place.

In a video of his impressions distributed through management company All That Sports after the game, Jeong Seung-gi said, "I finished the 1st and 2nd runs yesterday in 4th place, so today I aimed to be in the 3rd place." It was so exciting to be able to do it,” he said.

This is the first time Jeong Seung-gi has won a medal at the World Championships.

In his first appearance in the 2018-2019 season competition, he ranked 9th, followed by 16th and 20th in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons, respectively.

It is a world championship medal harvested as soon as the 'post-Yun Sung-bin era' began, so it is a more valuable achievement for Korean skeletons.

Yoon Seong-bin is the only Korean player to have won a medal at the World Championships.

Sungbin Yun won a silver medal in the 2015-2016 season competition and a bronze medal in the 2018-2019 season competition.

2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics gold medalist Yoon Seong-bin is temporarily retired.

Jeong Seung-gi will compete in the 7th World Cup held in Innsbruck, Austria on the 10th of next month.
