The Finn was supposed to have driven in the prestigious championship meeting already last year, but was then forced to withdraw his bid.

Now the 33-year-old is in place and forms a pair in tomorrow's Nations Cup, team competition, with double F1 world champion Mika Häkkinen.

During his first practice on the ice outside Piteåhavsbad, Bottas got to know the competition's rallycross car.

- Really fun, it was my first lap and a new car but I enjoyed it, so much fun, says Bottas to SVT Sport.

A well-prepared, rhythmic course awaits.

The course is a little faster than last year and it is set up for a one-hundredth race.

The drivers will all drive in several different types of cars during the competition, sharp turns, high pace and they are required to quickly adapt to the new car and its strengths.

- It's crazy, it's going to be a fun weekend.

Driving against so many fantastic drivers from different categories, it's special, says Bottas.

The competitions begin with the national competition on Saturday followed by the individual competition on Sunday.

- I see Bottas as an "outsider", how can you do that with a world star like him.

He has two starts in the Arctic Rally in Finland, a competition run on snow and ice.

So he has more experience than you think.

In addition, this is on a track that he has "quite" a lot of experience with, says Kruse with a smile and concludes.

- Bottas can definitely surprise!.
