Andreas Nordebäck, who finished 10th at the Junior WC, entered the EC in Espoo, Finland, for the first time ever.

After the short program he finished in ninth place and advanced to the grand final.

Once there, the new Swedish champion with a strong autumn behind him, with medals at three international competitions, got off to a rough start.

To the tune of Daniel Lavoie's "Notre Dame de Paris," he opened the first half with a couple of shaky landings that cost him points.

But in the second half of the program, the Swede set the landings, which made him climb the results list.

- It was a fight, I started shaky, there were a few nerves but I'm satisfied that I didn't give up but really did my best.

Two Swedish places for next year's EC

In the end, the second half saw the 18-year-old clinch a top ten position, which means that Sweden now gets two places to next year's EC in Hungary's capital, Budapest.

- I am very proud of myself, I have done my best throughout the week.

It feels good that you get more Swedes here next year and that I also do it on my debut, he says.

Now Nordebäck is looking ahead.

- I'm going home and then it's the Nordic championships next week,, But I'm focusing mostly on this year the junior WC.
