SVT Sport was able to tell us on Tuesday that among Swedish sports researchers there is widespread criticism of the SOK's physical profile test battery.

The fitness profile has looked the same since the start in 1998 and the exercises are the same for everyone who does them - regardless of sport.

The purpose, according to SOK operations manager Peter Reinebo, is to measure the basic physics of Swedish Olympic athletes over time.

- I know that this criticism has existed.

But I can't really comment on it because we don't use the physical profile, says Liselotte Ohlson.

Discussions have been going on for a long time

The Swedish Sports Confederation, RF, has its own test operation for Swedish elite athletes via its development center in Bosön.

According to sources for SVT Sport, there have long been discussions between the SOK and the RF about how the physical tests look and are used.

Something Liselotte Ohlson confirms.

- A dialogue about training and tests on active people has been going on for a long time.

And in that dialogue, we also have some collaborations to develop in the right direction.

What is the direction, what do you want to see improved?

- I would like to supplement the physical profile.

I think of the physical profile as a base plate.

Take canoeing which is my sport.

Flying 30 meters (sprint exercise) is relevant to measure.

So then you can take certain tests in the physical profile that are relevant and then add tests that are "canoe-like".

For example kayak ergometer and measuring lactic acid and oxygen uptake.

- We cannot control their (SOK's) tests.

But I would like to see a more nuanced approach.

This applies to all tests.

And above all general tests such as the physical profile, so we don't put too much focus on that, says Liselotte Ohlson.
