Mattias Svanberg swapped Bologna for Wolfsburg this summer and Sweden's national team midfielder has been in and out of the starting eleven during his first season in Wolfsburg.

Today he got the chance from the start and delivered straight away.

It didn't even take four minutes before the 24-year-old scored his first Bundesliga goal in his career.

After a nice free kick variant by Wolfsburg where Patrick Wimmer found Svanberg who was able to volley nicely to score 1-0.

In the 23rd minute of the match, Svanberg made it 2-0 after another fine variation by Wimmer, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Minutes later, the visitors received a free kick just outside the penalty area.

Stepped forward Mattias Svanberg who hit an arm and penalty for Wolfsburg who made no mistakes.

2-0.

But the Malmö son was not happy there.

Just three minutes later, he answered for an assist when he headed the ball to Danish striker Jonas Wind.

And in the 72nd minute, Svanberg accounted for his second assist when he set free the right back Ridle Bak.

Wolfsburg won in the end with a whopping 5-0.

"Nice to be able to help the team get an important victory away from home.

Obviously important for self-confidence and it can probably increase the chances of more playing time before the national team break," he writes to SVT Sport.
