The player

Dani Alves

has decided to "reinforce" his criminal defense with one of the most reputable lawyers in Barcelona.

The lawyer Cristóbal Martell will be responsible for representing the Brazilian in court and his first mission will be to try to get him out of prison.

To do this, he will present an appeal in the next few hours before the Investigating Court number 15 of Barcelona and another subsidiary to the Barcelona Court in which he will request the release of Alves in exchange for the imposition of other measures, such as a bail, the withdrawal of the passport or prohibition to leave Spain.

Martell is a renowned criminal lawyer who has defended Leo Messi and his father, the Pujol family and numerous Spanish businessmen and politicians, as in the 'Nóos case', against Iñaki Urdangarín at the start of the tax fraud case.

He has extensive experience and numerous contacts in the judiciary.

The lawyer will lead the defense along with Alves' current lawyer, Miraida Puente Wilson, who assisted him in his statement last Friday.

In a statement, this lawyer pointed out that she has provided "professional services in the different companies and commercial activities" of Alves and that she accompanied him when she voluntarily appeared before the Mossos d'Esquadra "to give a statement and defend his innocence.

However, it points out that "the development of events and the deprivation of liberty suffered lead Mr. Daniel Alves da Silva" to "want to reinforce with a specialist in criminal law the exercise of his defense in the process."

That is why he appoints Martell for "the good course of his defense in this period of investigation and in trial and to restore his honor and dignity and, in short, to demonstrate his innocence of the facts that are imputed to him."

On the other hand, the family of Alves and his ex-wife are still in talks with the lawyer Andrés Maluenda to represent him in this procedure.
