Professional football K League 1 Suwon Samsung striker Oh Hyeon-gyu (22) is imminent to advance to Europe.

England's Sky Sports reported, "Scotland Celtic has agreed with Suwon to sign Oh Hyun-gyu for a transfer fee of 2.5 million pounds (approximately 3.8 billion won)."

"Oh Hyun-kyu verbally agreed to personal terms and is expected to finalize the transfer within the next few days."

An official from Suwon said, "Before the World Cup until recently, Celtic has made four to five recruitment proposals."

Scotland's prestigious Celtic sent a love call to Oh Hyun-gyu before the opening of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar last year.

Oh Hyun-gyu, who signed a semi-professional contract with Suwon in 2019 while attending Maetango, debuted in the K-League the same year and played 11 games, and solved the military service problem by serving in the military in the 2020-2021 season.

Returning to Suwon after being discharged from the military, he emerged as a solver for Suwon last season and exploded his potential.

He scored 13 goals (3 assists), the most in the team, in 36 K-League 1 matches in the 2022 season, and led Suwon to remain in the 1st division with a golden goal in the second leg of the promotion playoff against FC Anyang.

He was very active in the league and did not make it to the final roster for the Qatar World Cup, but was selected as a reserve member and trained with the national team in Qatar.

Although he did not play in the World Cup,

At the time of the first offer, it is known that he expressed his will to recruit Oh Hyun-kyu by offering an amount two to three times higher than the transfer fee.

Initially, Suwon was in a position to hope that Oh Hyun-gyu, the main figure, would remain in the team for one more season and become a force, but eventually decided to transfer due to Celtic's persistent courtship.

Meanwhile, Celtic also showed interest in signing Cho Kyu-seong (Jeonbuk), who emerged as a star in this World Cup, but Sky Sports reported that negotiations between Celtic and Jeonbuk were suspended.
