Spanish golfer

Jon Rahm

has won the

American Express

Trophy after winning a one-on-one with American rookie

Davis Thompson

.

With his victory, he proves to be the fittest player on the PGA circuit by getting his fourth title in the last six tournaments he has played.

Fourth in the world ranking, Rahm had already conquered the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii two weeks earlier with an unforgettable comeback in the final round.

The Spaniard started the last round in La Quinta (California) even on the table with the surprising Thompson, with whom he had an exciting fight from the beginning of the tournament until the last hole of it.

With a final card of 68 shots, four under par, Rahm just beat the American, who had a golden opportunity to reach the Spaniard on the 17th hole with a well-aimed shot that was deflected by the flag.

Rahm, 28, maintained his slim lead on the final hole and secured his ninth career PGA title, matching the great Severiano Ballesteros in this way.
