[Explanation] The Spring Festival is coming, and in the China Disabled Sports Management Center in Beijing, a group of disabled athletes are still training in full swing.

In order to prepare for international competitions such as the World Paralympic Swimming Series in Australia in February and the Wheelchair Tennis Team World Cup, the Chinese Disabled Swimming and Wheelchair Tennis Team conducted intensive training during the Spring Festival to help athletes adjust their sports status and improve their competitive level.

[Concurrent] Gao Wei, Deputy Director of the Competition and Training Department of the China Disabled Sports Management Center

The main goal of this training camp is to participate in the qualifying rounds of the Paris Paralympic Games and the Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Games. In fact, it is also the first training team for the Paris Paralympic Games (cycle). It is necessary to ensure at least one month of basic training preparation and complete the training. Some, such as our own safety management of doping, distribution of necessary equipment for training and competition, etc., (let athletes) look back on their training status.

[Same period] Dong Fuli, the coach of the Chinese wheelchair tennis team

Our training camp is also facing a qualifier for the World Cup from February 28 to March 3. For the official World Cup in May, we are also preparing for Hangzhou (Asian Paralympic Games), and for Paris (Paralympic Games). Athletes will actively participate in the points race.

[Explanation] There are many young faces among the athletes participating in the training camp. They will spend the Spring Festival together in training.

[Concurrent] Chinese wheelchair tennis player Ji Zhenxu

I have just stepped into the national team training camp since 2018. I just turned 23 today and my birthday is today.

Our entire team is a family. Our family celebrates the Spring Festival here, which is actually the same as at home. We are united for our competition, and the "temperature" is the same as at home (Chinese New Year).

[Concurrent] Lu Yanling, athlete of the Chinese Disabled Swimming Team

I cherish this opportunity very much, and I am always happy when I receive the notification at home.

The people here are very enthusiastic, including the aunts in the cafeteria, who will greet us warmly when we meet, and the coaches also teach us very well.

Training should be assiduous and hard work, play when it is time to play, only bitterness can be sweet.

[Explanation] Wu Hongliang, a swimmer from Guizhou, is spending the Spring Festival outside for the first time this year. During training, Wu Hongliang's voice of struggling to fetch water with one arm was very loud.

Wu Hongliang said that he has loved swimming since he was a child and always wanted to be the fastest person in the pool.

It should be when I was 10 years old, (passed) the selection in the city and entered the provincial team. At that time, I didn’t know how to swim very much. It was difficult at the beginning. When I couldn’t swim, it was very annoying to see others swimming in front of you. I can't swim myself, which is very sad.

Now I want to try to make myself the fastest one.

[Explanation] Dong Shunjiang from Sichuan in the wheelchair tennis team was injured and disabled in the Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008. He told reporters that tennis changed his life.

[Concurrent] Chinese wheelchair tennis player Dong Shunjiang

Because I was injured by the earthquake, and I was a teenager when I was injured by the earthquake. At that time, I must have had very negative thoughts in my heart, no matter what I did, I didn’t have the heart to do it.

But when I first chose tennis, from the moment I was selected, I was deeply attracted by this sport, and I have persisted since then.

[Explanation] Gao Wei introduced that the training time for the Spring Festival is relatively tight. The coaching team will make a reasonable training plan in accordance with scientific laws, and also prepare special activities for the Chinese New Year for the athletes.

[Concurrent] Gao Wei, Deputy Director of the Competition and Training Department of the China Disabled Sports Management Center

We will seize the time of each day, like the 30th, first day, and second year of junior high school. According to the current plan, we will not arrange and adjust, and will train continuously for a long time.

After all, it is the Spring Festival, and we will also make some special arrangements, such as guessing lantern riddles, improving the catering and adding some dishes.

In terms of creating a training atmosphere, especially things that highlight some of the characteristics of our Spring Festival in the Year of the Rabbit, we will make some arrangements.
