HV71 came from a heavy 3-1 loss against Färjestad.

The last time the teams met, Frölunda won 3-1 in Scandinavium, and the Gothenburgers had also had a streak of six straight wins against the Jönköping team.

But despite that, HV71 took a comfortable 6-3 victory against Frölunda - and broke the streak.

Two quick goals

After five minutes, the home team took the lead after André Petersson took the puck into the attack zone and served Nick Shore, who fired a shot that slipped past Frölunda's goalkeeper Frederik Dichow.

And just over two minutes later, Mattias Tedenby scored the puck to make it 2-0 in a largely open cage.

Lundqvist reached a milestone

When Joel Lundqvist headed in Andreas Borgman's shot for a reduction in the away game against HV71, it was his 500th point in the SHL in 899 league games.

From there he overtook Håkan Loob in eighth place, Fredrik Bremberg is the best in history with 581 points.

- Long and faithful service then there will be some in the end, hard to enjoy it at the moment, Lundqvist told C More during the break after the first period and a 2-4 deficit.

In the second period, HV71 put a lot of pressure on Frölunda, but the visitors stood up and reduced the score to 4-3.

Extended the lead

The third period barely started before HV71 added when Joey LaLeggia scored his second goal of the game.

With barely three minutes left in the match, the home team added another goal through Andy Miele and made the final score 6-3.

In the next SHL match, HV71 meets Örebro at Behrn Arena on January 21.
