Tikhomirov died at the age of 76, according to the press service of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR).

The bright memory of a scientist, teacher, sincere and life-loving person will forever remain in our hearts, ”the message says.

Tikhomirov is also a multiple winner of international sports couples competitions.

Together with Lyudmila Suslina, he won bronze medals at the 1968 Winter Universiade.

The pair also won silver at the 1967 Blue Swords, silver at the 1967 Prize Moscow News and gold at the 1968 Blue Swords.
