When covid-19 took off in the tennis world, several stars were stopped from participating.

Serbian Novak Djokovic chose not to get vaccinated and was stopped from participating in the Australian Open and the US Open as he did not have a vaccination certificate.

Someone who was not stopped was the Italian Camila Giorgi - who a week ago ended up in a storm when her former doctor revealed that the 31-year-old asked for a fake vaccine certificate.

The Italian Camila Giorgi, who is ranked 70 in the world, participated in both the Australian Open and the US Open.

But a week ago, Giorgi's doctor Daniela Grillone went out and revealed in the Italian newspaper Corriere del Veneto that the 31-year-old asked for a fake vaccine certificate.

- The Giorgi family hired me for a period, partly because Camila had problems with tennis elbow.

At the beginning of the summer, she asked me about the possibility of obtaining a false certificate for all vaccines, including the one for covid-19.

I can confirm that no one in the Giorgi family has been vaccinated for covid-19, says Grillone.

"Has been investigated"

The newspaper la Repubblica then stated that Giorgi is under investigation for having used fake vaccine evidence and now the star is fighting back.

- Of course the doctor has been investigated and she has had problems with the law a few times this year.

I did all my vaccinations at different places.

So the problem is entirely hers.

Not me.

So with that I am very calm.

So of course, if I hadn't been vaccinated I wouldn't be able to come here and play tennis, she says.

Camilla Giorgi has at her best been ranked 26th and has won three WTA titles.
