Madelen Janogy is one of the Allsvenskan players who have started this new championship year with the national team's January camp on the Algarve coast in Portugal.

A camp that ended on Sunday.

She is enjoying herself, looking forward to what lies ahead, both with the Hammarby club team and with the national team, and is not focusing on the great competition that prevails for the WC places.

- For me, the focus is partly on keeping myself injury-free, but then just trying to find peace and doing what I'm good at.

After the poke in the EC, it feels like I took an extra step precisely in the idea of being able to control those feelings.

I feel quite calm, and just expectant.

What is your absolute goal for 2023?

- To continue to develop, and try to be as good as I can be, which I know I have in me.

To be injury free, and just live football to the fullest.

"I am who I am"

The 27-year-old, who has played 29 international matches, wants to hone his top qualities rather than becoming more complete.

- I am who I am on the football pitch, and I won't be able to change that.

I want to get even better at what I'm good at, and take the next step there.

Many are the young players from the Allsvenskan who were called up to the A national team for the very first time at this January camp.

Confederation captain Peter Gerhardsson thinks that everyone who was there should be able to dream of taking a place at the WC in Australia/New Zealand this summer.

Gerhardsson also emphasizes that it can actually become a reality just months after a first national team selection.

And he specifically highlighted Madelen Janogy as an example of a player who succeeded in that.

Janogy who debuted in January 2019, and then became a WC player that summer, in France.

- It went very quickly and you didn't have time to think much.

There was so much that happened.

It was a great year and I was incredibly happy.

And it flowed in a good way.

So it goes.

Janogy tells SVT Sport that she recognizes a lot of herself in those who have now participated for the first time.

- There is a lot of nervousness, and it is easy to say that you should take it upon yourself and dare to ask and dare to do what you are good at.

It's harder to really do it, but I think they've done it in a great way.
