The Swedish Football Association received eight nominations for the position of chairman, now three main candidates remain.

The three candidates are former Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, former Microsoft CEO Hélène Barnekow and Lars-Christer Olsson, former secretary general of the European Football Association.

Reinfeldt, who was nominated for the post by the Brommapojkarna in November but has since never commented on the possibilities of becoming Karl-Erik Nilsson's successor as union chairman.

But now, when he is one of only three remaining candidates, he is breaking his silence.

- Exciting for me as a big football fan to be part of the next step.

I look forward to, next week, answering the questions of the election committee and those entitled to vote, he tells SVT Sport, but declines further comments.

A new chairman will be elected on March 25.
