Zion Santiago Cano, 20, was born in Montevideo, but came to Sweden when he was five months old.

He belongs to Malmö HK in the Handball League, but is on loan to the club Ankaret in division 1.

A year and a half ago, Uruguay's national team contacted him, via Instagram, and asked if he was interested in representing the country, and today he is making his fourth international match, against Sweden in particular.

- It's absolutely incredible, it's a dream I've had since I was little.

Especially now that it's in Sweden at home, it's wonderful, says Zion Santiago Cano.

"The goal is to try to win a match"

If he had had the choice, he would have represented Sweden, but that was not an option right now.

- Of course I would have chosen Sweden, because you can win titles and such, but now that I have chosen, it feels obvious to go with Uruguay.

Uruguay, making only their second World Cup, is one of the tournament's worst teams.

In WC Egypt 2021, they lost their matches by an average of 20 balls, apart from a WO win against Cape Verde.

- The goal is to try to win a match, the first win in history for Uruguay.

This is our second WC, so we just try to do our best and develop all the time, says Zion Santiago Cano.
