Golfer Linn Grant is nominated for "Newcomer of the Year" at the Sports Gala, which takes place in the Avicii Arena tonight.

This is thanks to the fact that in 2022 she both won the overall in the European Tour and became the first woman to win on the men's European Tour when she won the Scandinavian Mixed.

Now she is looking forward to 2023.

- It is going to be fun.

I try not to have such high expectations, considering last year was so good.

Instead of just carrying on as I have done before, she says and continues:

- One of my goals is the Solheim Cup.

Being top five in the world when the year is over is also one of my goals.

It would have been natural for Grant to play many events on the LPGA tour, but 22 of the 34 events take place in the United States and she cannot go there because she has chosen not to get vaccinated against covid-19.

She does not want to say why she has made that decision.

- Sad, of course, that I can't go there.

At the same time, I'm so set that I can't do it so playing the European Tour and the LPGA events I can feel like a good option.

And I will be able to play more LPGA events this year.

Have you considered changing your vaccine decision?

- No, not at the moment anyway.

Do you think it could negatively affect your career if you are not allowed to go to the USA right now?

- Of course it affects a little.

But I still feel like I'm in a situation where I can develop on the European Tour and I can play events on the LPGA Tour that are developmental.

So I don't see it as an obstacle.

Do you go there and play immediately if they lift the requirement?

- If they lift the vaccine requirement, I'll be there playing, of course.
