Who will succeed Rafael Nadal and Ashleigh Barty?

The Australian Open, the first major event of the tennis season, will take place from January 16 to 29, 2023 in Melbourne.

The Grand Slam tournament can be followed live on the Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 channels. But also on the Eurosport mobile application and the Eurosport.fr website.

Match times

Due to the time difference, you will have to stay up late, or wake up early in the night to watch the best tennis players on the planet.

The matches will begin at 1 a.m. French time (11 a.m. in Australia).

Night-sessions will also be scheduled around 9 a.m. (7 p.m. in Melbourne).

The finals will take place at 9:30 a.m. French time (7:30 p.m. in Australia).

For the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, Eurosport has brought together a team of prestigious consultants, including former world number one Justine Hénin.

She will be accompanied, among others, by Arnaud Di Pasquale, Arnaud Clément and Jean-Paul Loth.

Throughout the Australian fortnight, international experts from Eurosport will also be involved, such as Kim Clijsters, Mats Wilander and John McEnroe.

Djokovic and Swiatek, huge favorites

Among the men, Novak Djokovic will be the big favorite.

The Serb, absent last year because not vaccinated against Covid-19, has already won the tournament nine times.

He could find Rafael Nadal in the final, who however inherited a difficult table since the Spaniard could cross paths with Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Note that world number 1 Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn.

Her female counterpart, on the other hand, will be there.

Iga Swiatek, who dominated last season with two Grand Slam titles (Roland Garros, US Open), may have to face Americans Danielle Collins, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula to reach the final.

On the French side, the spotlight will be on Caroline Garcia, 4th in the world and winner of the Masters at the end of the year.

The Lyonnaise could well meet her compatriot Alizé Cornet in the second round.
