Monaco, with in particular a hat-trick from Wissam Ben Yedder, very easily defeated Ajaccio (7-1), Sunday during the 19th day of L1, to point five lengths from the podium, at the end of the first leg.

This easy victory, which took shape in the first period during which Wissam Ben Yedder and his acolytes scored five times, allows Monaco to continue their invincibility in L1 in 2023 (three wins and a draw) and to hang on to five points from the current third Marseille, to whom they will move in two weeks, on January 28 (9:00 p.m.).

Author of a hat-trick in 14 minutes between the 21st and 35th minutes with two goals from the left (3-1, 21st, and 4-1, 28th, on a subtle service from Aleksandr Golovin), and a penalty from the right (5 -1, 35th), captain Ben Yedder, now author of 11 goals in L1 this season, was the great craftsman of the Monegasque demonstration.

However, since the post-World Cup recovery, he had played only 72 minutes in three games in the elite (45 in Auxerre, none against Brest and 27 in Lorient).

A thunderous comeback after three games on the bench

Ajaccio, for its part, too quickly led 2-0, following achievements by Axel Disasi from a corner (1-0, 2nd), and Krépin Diatta on receiving a strong cross from Vanderson (2-0 , 6th), has never been able to compete with his opponent.

Even when Youcef Belaïli came to dab Guillermo Maripan before scoring with a nice brushed shot (2-1, 11th).

The Corsicans, who will receive Lyon on the next day, are now relegated, due to a very poor goal difference (15 points, -16, against -10 for Strasbourg, 16th, and -15 for Brest, 17th).

The score easily acquired at the break allowed Philippe Clement to rotate his squad.

His men, however, remained diligent.

They made the mark twice worse through Breel Embolo.

First, just entering the game, the Swiss deflected a header from Diatta (6-1, 63rd).

Then he stole the ball from defender Oumar Gonzalez to score his 10th goal in L1 with a nice dive (7-1, 89th).
