Yesterday, Emil Persson won the 62 kilometer long Pustertaler Ski Marathon after an exciting sprint showdown.

It wasn't as exciting today.

This time there were three riders who were alone for the last half mile: Thomas Ödegården, Emil Persson and Tord Asle Gjerdalen.

“This is powerful!”

With three kilometers to go, however, Gjerdalen dropped out, leaving Ödegården – who had never been on the podium in a Ski Classics race before – alone with Emil Persson.

And with about one and a half kilometers to go, Persson made the decisive move.

When Persson increased the pace, he immediately got a gap down to Ödegården, who was unable to respond.

- He skates with such confidence, he skates with such poise, he skates with such pressure in his skating, so there is no skater in the world who is currently standing against Emil Persson.

This is powerful, exclaimed SVT Sports expert Anders Blomquist.

"Shaggy, shaggy impressive"

Persson now has a total of five straight victories, as he also won last year's final competition.

He has a total of 13 Ski Classics victories in his career.

- It is rough, rough impressive what he does, says Blomquist.

When he crossed the finish line, he was 9.1 seconds ahead of Ödegården.
