THE ESSENTIAL

  • Last day of the Ruhpolding biathlon stage in Germany this Sunday, with the mass starts.

    The men's race starts at 12:30 p.m.

  • Four French will be at the start: Quentin Fillon Maillet, the returning Emilien Jacquelin, Fabien Claude and Antonin Guigonnat.

  • Fabien Claude was ranked fourth in the previous mass-start, disputed on December 18 at Grand-Bornand, behind three Norwegians: the winner Johannes Dale, Sturla Laegreid and Johannes Boe.

08:00: And yes, there is still biathlon today

And not just any test: the mass start.

The previous one took place on December 18 in Le Grand-Bornand, the day of the final of the Football World Cup, and the Norwegian hat-trick (Dale-Laegreid-J. Boe) had gone somewhat unnoticed in our latitudes, as well than the meritorious 4th place of Fabien Claude.

The Vosgien will be present again this Sunday in Ruhpolding, as well as three other Frenchmen (Quentin Fillon Maillet, Emilien Jacquelin and Antonin Guigonnat) among the 30 starters.

For Jacquelin, it will be a return to competition, after having jumped the individual on Thursday, then endorsed the bib of replacement during the relay on Friday.

We will see if the Isérois took advantage of his green in Italy, decided after the failure of last week in Pokljuka, Slovenia, with an improbable 64th place in the sprint.

“Because the atmosphere in Ruhpolding is always crazy, we meet at noon…
