Mitsuru Murai, who served as chairman of the J-League soccer team, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Japan Badminton Association, which has continued to face scandals such as embezzlement of former staff members.

In the Japan Badminton Association, there were a series of scandals such as embezzlement by former staff members and fraudulent applications for subsidies, and in November last year, the association's executives, including chairman Yoshio Sekine, resigned after taking responsibility for management and supervision.



After that, we aimed to invite a new chairman from outside in order to strengthen governance and strengthen the function of the secretariat, but at the extraordinary board meeting held on the 14th, it was decided that he would be the chairman of the J. League soccer team for eight years until last year. It was approved that Mr. Murai, who served as a new director, was appointed.



According to the association, Mr. Murai will become vice chairman for the time being after being approved as a director at the extraordinary board of councilors on the 22nd of this month, and will be appointed as the new chairman in June this year.



Japan Badminton Association Executive Director Tatsuhiko Mohri said, "He has experience as the chairman of the J. I expect that he will make new reforms from the perspective of outside the badminton world."
