The NHL's clear dominant in recent years, with two straight scoring league victories, is the Edmonton Oilers' Connor McDavid.

With just over half the season played, everything indicates that it will be a third straight scoring league victory, as he has a whopping 16 points down on the second best scorer: Teammate Leon Draisaitl.

Scored the first goal of the match

Last night, when he made his 44th game of the season, there were three more points (two goals and an assist) and he is now listed for 82 points.

In addition to the three points, he was happy that his Edmonton won with a superior 7-1 against the San Jose Sharks - and that he himself turned 26 years old.

McDavid's best performance in the game of the night was the one that made it 1-0.

It came about halfway into the first period, and was a classy wrist shot in numerical superiority.

He shot from the left circle and the shot hit the post.
