  • Benjamin Mendy A "predator" of "vulnerable, terrified and isolated" women

Manchester City footballer

Benjamin Mendy has been found not guilty of six cases of rape and one of sexual assault, the

Chester (England)

court ruled this Friday

.

The jury has yet to reach a verdict on one count of rape and one count of attempted rape.

Mendy denies the 10 charges against him, which concern events alleged to have occurred between October 2018 and August 2021 at his home in

Prestbury, Cheshire

.

The footballer faced life imprisonment.

The club paid 60 million euros for Mendy, who was scouted at Marseille and spent a season at Monaco, making him the most expensive defender in history at the time.

But his career has since been marred by injuries, which have forced him to spend more time tending to his knees and muscular problems than kicking a ball.

The French international also made headlines in the fall of 2020, when his Lamborghini, valued at more than 500,000 euros ($587,000), was seized, which he was driving without a license or insurance.

He pleaded guilty and was fined just over 1,000 euros.
