All elite players on the women's side are currently without a collective agreement after the negotiations between the Employers' Alliance, which negotiates for Elite Soccer Women, and the Players' Association are at a standstill.

- It becomes problematic when an industry is not regulated and the collective agreement regulated several conditions within elite sports.

Right now the players are not protected in the same way as when we had collective agreements.

The risk of work-related injuries is great for an elite athlete and without an agreement the players can be without compensation if they suffer a long-term injury, says Caroline Jönsson, vice president of the Players' Association, to SVT Sport.

- Our view is that the majority of clubs will cover the old agreement, but at the moment it is up to each individual club.

In November, Elitfotboll Dam (EFD) terminated the existing collective agreement.

They have handed over the task of negotiating a new one to the Employers' Alliance, which has given an ultimatum: that the Players' Association withdraw from the negotiations and let the Union take over.

- A collective agreement governs so that there is order and order, both applicable rights and obligations.

Women's football in Sweden has a good reputation internationally and the fact that we don't have everything in place hurts us a lot.

It becomes less attractive to come here, says Caroline Jönsson.

No new date set

Last week a meeting took place between the Players' Association, the Union and the Employers' Alliance which led nowhere.

No new date has yet been set.

- We really want to get a collective agreement in place, we have that in common.

I can only agree that we want to get a collective agreement in place.

But we can only conclude an agreement with the Union and as long as the Players' Association does not release the negotiation, we have this deadlock, says Maria Liljedahl, head of negotiations at the Employers' Alliance.
