A Spanish report revealed a big surprise regarding the position of coach of Real Madrid, which is currently occupied by the veteran Italian Carlo Ancelotti.

Recently, voices have been raised about the possibility of the return of Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, in order to take over the training of the “Royal” club for a third period, after the extension of his compatriot Didier Deschamps’ contract with the French national team until 2026.

But the Spanish newspaper "Sport" confirmed that Raul Gonzalez (one of the legends of Real Madrid) is the first candidate to succeed Ancelotti when the latter leaves the "Santiago Bernabeu".

The newspaper highlighted the statements of the Italian coach, who has a contract with Real Madrid until June 2024, which he made at the beginning of the current season 2022-2023, stressing that his current stop will be the last training experience.

The newspaper indicates that there are those who are talking within the Real Madrid administration that Ancelotti will not complete his contract, so the newspaper put "Raul" at the top of the list of Italian substitutes.

Raul retired in 2015 with the colors of the American Cosmos, then obtained a training license, and began working with the younger Sunni groups in Real Madrid.

Raul oversaw the youth team in 2019, with which he won the UEFA Youth League title in August 2020.

And "Sport" put Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, the former Paris Saint-Germain coach, as a second option to succeed Ancelotti after Raul.

The newspaper recalled Pochettino's previous statements about the possibility of training Real Madrid, in which he said, "I do not think that the train passes once in a lifetime."

Zidane came third after Pochettino, knowing that the Frenchman had already worked as a coach for Real Madrid in two periods;

The first was more successful by winning the European Champions League 3 times in a row, in addition to other European, international and local titles.

The newspaper did not drop other names from Real Madrid's table, such as Spain's Julen Lopetegui and Portuguese Jose Mourinho.

All these options will come into play after the departure of Ancelotti, who admitted the suffering of his team in the last period, despite its victory over Valencia in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup.

Courtois and Benzema hide Real Madrid's shortcomings

And the Spanish newspaper "Marca" confirms that had it not been for the Frenchman Karim Benzema, and behind him the Belgian Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid would have lost the title of Super Champion, as the "Merengue" players seemed very tired in the matches after the World Cup, which was held in Qatar.

Ancelotti acknowledged the team's problems in midfield, saying after the victory over Valencia, "The midfield players' reading of the game was not good."

And Ancelotti must work to solve the team's problems, which were compounded by injuries in the back line, before the crowded match schedule in the coming period.

Next Sunday, Real Madrid will play the Spanish Super Final against the winner from Barcelona and Real Betis, then it will be a guest on Villarreal in the King’s Cup, after which the team will play difficult matches in La Liga, then travel to Morocco to compete for the Club World Cup, before visiting the “Anfield” stadium.
