Lag Hasselborg is in Canada and has started the Canadian Open grand slam competition with two wins.

They won the competition when it was last decided in 2020 and in tonight's match, Swedish time, they won 8–0 against the USA.

However, team Hasselborg played with only three people as Sara McManus is on maternity leave after recently having a baby and the reserve Therese Westman fell ill.

In addition, skipper Anna Hasselborg and teammate Agnes Knochenhauer announced yesterday on social media that they are pregnant.

- We don't think it will affect this season, especially until the WC, very much.

Then maybe there will be more worries afterwards with long trips to Canada and other things, but the WC is on home soil so we don't think it will be a problem if they are current, says national team captain Maria Prytz to SVT Sport.

The WC will be decided in Sandviken in March

The WC is decided in Sandviken 18–26 March.

Team Hasselborg is pitted against team Wranå in the WC qualifiers, which will be decided in mid-February, and then the plan is for Sara McManus to be back.

- Their sporting investment remains as planned and they have good support from their coaches.

Both Anna and Agnes have experience of being pregnant and working out, then you never know how things will go and feel in the meantime, but so far both are doing well, says Maria Prytz.

On the men's side, team Edin has also started with two victories in the Canadian Open.
