Opposed in the 1st round to a player from the qualifications, the number 1 tricolor Caroline Garcia could find her compatriot Alizé Cornet in the second round.

Novak Djokovic meanwhile inherited a lenient draw.

Discover the draw for the first Grand Slam of the year to live every evening in "Europe 1 Sport".

The French men and women were not spared by the draw for the Australian Open, the first tennis Grand Slam of the year which will be held from January 16 to 29 and whose results will be commented on every evening in the

Europe 1 Sport

program (from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.).

The number 1 tricolor Caroline Garcia (4th in the world), in search of her first major title, could face in the second round Alizé Cornet (34th), quarter-finalist last year and the only other Frenchwoman qualified directly for the main draw by her ranking (Diane Parry obtained an invitation).

For Garcia, the road to a first Major will not be easy: after Cornet, she could face, following the logic of the WTA ranking, the Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu (28th), the Estonian Anett Kontaveit (17th), the Russian Daria Kasatkina (8th), who pushed him to his last limits at the WTA Masters, the Tunisian Ons Jabeur (2nd) and finally the undisputed number 1, the Polish Iga Swiatek.

Clara Burel (131st) and Selena Janicijevic (185th) for their part passed the three qualifying rounds, unlike Kristina Mladenovic (152nd), who lost in the third round.

Among the gentlemen, fate brought Richard Gasquet (67th) and Ugo Humbert (108th) to entry and was not lenient with Quentin Halys (64th), who inherited Stefanos Tsitsipas (4th).

Blue number 1 Adrian Mannarino (43rd) will start against the great American server John Isner (42nd).

After qualifying, Laurent Lokoli (176th) and Enzo Couacaud (190th) enter the main draw.

Badly classified, the tricolors therefore fall, or could fall on the big seeds quickly.

Novak Djokovic spared for his return

Novak Djokovic, who returns to the Australian Open, was spared the draw on Thursday.

The fate put on the road of the seeded number 4 of the tournament the Spaniard Roberto Carballes (75th) in the first round then, if we follow the logic of the classification, the Bolivian Hugo Dellien (132nd), the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov ( 29th), the Spaniard Pablo Carreno (15th), the Russian Andrey Rublev (6th) and the Norwegian Casper Ruud (3rd), for a final in apotheosis against Nadal (2nd), who became seeded number 1 after the withdrawal of his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz.

On the women's side, in the absence of defending champion Ashleigh Barty of Australia, who retired, and after the last-minute withdrawal of pregnant Naomi Osaka, only two players won the tournament: Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (25th) and the American Sofia Kenin (280th)… And twist of fate, the two players will face each other in the first round.
