Naomi Osaka shared via social media a picture of an ultrasound.

The tennis star is pregnant and is taking a break from playing for the rest of the year.

"One thing I'm looking forward to is that my child will watch my matches and say to someone: That's my mother," writes the former world number one on Twitter.

Over the weekend, Osaka withdrew her bid for the Australian Open, which begins on Sunday.

However, the plan is to participate in next year's edition.

"An instructive year"

"2023 will be an educational year for me and I hope to see you at the beginning of next year because I will be at the Australian Open in 2024," she writes.

The Japanese has not competed since September and writes the following about the break:

"These months that I have been away from the sport have really given me a new love and appreciation for the sport that I have dedicated my life to".
