The Swedish national football team is in Algrave and loading up for an upcoming World Cup.

Julia Roddar is one of the players who are there to fight for a place in the WC.

At the same time, it has been a turbulent time in the United States for the Swedish midfielder off the field.

"It's been special"

After a 14-month investigation, it was decided that four coaches will be banned for life for sexual harassment in the NWSL.

- It has been special to be in the middle of it, we as players have come together and not focus too much on it.

At the same time, it happens in my team, says Julia Roddar to SVT Sport.

The investigation lasted 14 months and resulted in the coaches, Riley, Christy Holly, Rory Dames and Richie Burke being banned for life.

- During my first year, everything came to light and throughout the second year a lot has happened.

Now some have been banned for life.

It is fortunate and good that the league is acting, they have done what needed to be done, she says.

Back in Sweden

The 30-year-old left Kopparbergs/Göteborg for the USA and Washington in January 2021. After an eventful year, she will play for Hammarby and in the women's league again next season.

- It's great fun to join a young squad and it feels like the club wants to move forward.

I've been keeping track, there are more top teams now than when I left.

There will be more tough matches.

Rowing did not make the national team's latest EC squad, but the goal is to qualify for the WC after an instructive time in the USA.

What have you improved since you last played in Sweden?

- An incredible amount of pace and physics with a lot of international matches.

How often do you think about the WC?

- Every week anyway, I will continue to get in shape.

The goal is to take a place in the WC.
