Jonna Sundling has not had the desired start to the season.

The 28-year-old has not yet competed in the World Cup after falling ill before the premiere in Bruksvallarna at the end of November.

She thus missed the first three World Cup weekends of the season.

However, she won both the sprint and the distance race when she competed in the Scandinavian Cup in Östersund in December.

But now she is approaching a comeback.

Trainer Stefan Thomson is pleased with what he has seen during her training period.

- With Jonna, who so far has not competed in the World Cup, the curve has gone straight up after the period of illness.

And after the "Skan Cup" it has continued to rise, says Thomson to SVT Sport.

Jonna Sundling, together with Emma Ribom, went to their own altitude camp in Livigno, Italy - where the sprint is decided on January 21-22.

A competition the duo will compete in.

- Now it's good to train at high altitude before falling.

Then that training period ends with the sprint in Livigno, says Stefan Thomson.

He continues:

- They get a little kick and a change of environment in the light down there, after training here in the dark.

Got off to a great start

Even Emma Ribom has been crass.

The 25-year-old had a great start to the season with double sprint victories in Ruka and Lillehammer.

But after the victory in Norway, there have been no more competitions.

- Emma has been in and shown the level she has, with these two victories.

The hope is that she will be back at that level as well.

- They are in a good phase before the WC.

If we do the right things, it won't affect the championship to a large extent, says the coach.

The squad for the World Cup competitions in Livigno will be selected next Tuesday.
