Moroccan Walid Regragui, the coach of the Moroccan national team, ranked third in the list of the best coaches in the world at the club level during the year 2022, according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), after he led his former team, Wydad Casablanca, to crowning the African Champions League at the expense of Al-Ahly of Egypt.

This classification comes a few days after the Moroccan coach and former player of the "Atlas Lions" was chosen in a similar classification as the third best coach during the past year at the level of national teams, behind Lionel Scaloni, coach of the world champion Argentina, and Didier Deschamps, coach of France and runner-up of the world champion. This was after Regragui's historic achievement with the Moroccan national team in the recent World Cup finals that were held in Qatar.

The Moroccan coach got 40 points in the vote launched by the International Federation, to rise to third place, while the Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola, Manchester City, came in second place, after he got 45 points, and the first place went to Italian Carlo Ancelotti, coach. Real Madrid, who won the Champions League, scored 245 points.

The Moroccan coach’s choice in this position came after an exceptional season he spent with the Wydad Casablanca team, although he assumed the responsibility of leading it in a short period, as he led “Wydad Al-Ummah” to crown the local league title and then the CAF Champions League title for the third time in its history after winning the final match. Over the Egyptian Al-Ahly 2-0.

Regragui is considered one of the most successful Moroccan, Arab and African coaches in recent years, and he has always left his mark on every trip he made, whether in his early days with the Moroccan team Al-Fateh Al-Rabati or with the Qatari club Al-Duhail and then with Wydad Casablanca.

As for the most prominent achievements of the Moroccan coach, he achieved it on Qatari soil during the World Cup, when he led the “Atlas Lions” to reach the golden square and occupy fourth place as the first Arab and African country to reach this role, with the elimination of many strong teams such as Belgium, Spain and Portugal.
