34-year-old Tess Olofsson has regularly refereed matches in Sweden on the women's and men's side.

This summer she made her championship debut in the EC and now comes the next happy news for the judge.

Olofsson has been selected for the football World Cup this summer.

- It has been a nervous and long wait before the announcement came and now I am mainly relieved and extremely happy to have been selected.

I found out three years ago that I was a World Cup candidate, but nothing is certain until it is clear, she says to the Swedish Football Association's website.

Only Swede

She is one of 33 judges who have been selected for the championship, and she will be the only Swedish judge on site.

- It would have been a dream to get further this time and maybe have the opportunity to fight for a final match.

But I am fully aware that I am a "new referee" in these contexts, even though I have refereed football for 22 years.

There is a lot of competition and you have to be patient, says Olofsson.

The championship, which takes place in Australia and New Zealand, will be played between 20 July and 20 August.
