The match between Oman and Yemen in the second round of the first group competitions of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Championship "Gulf 25" - held in the Iraqi city of Basra - witnessed the Yemeni goalkeeper committing a fatal mistake that caused a goal with his own net, to ask the coach to switch.

The Yemeni team was ahead 2-1, before its Omani counterpart equalized with a shot from Arshad Al-Alawi, as goalkeeper Ali Abbas caught the ball, but it fell strangely and entered the net in the 37th minute.

Immediately, the goalkeeper Abbas asked the coach to replace him, but the player's colleagues supported him and insisted that he stay on the field. Nevertheless, the goalkeeper was replaced between the two halves, and Muhammad Aman participated in his place.

It is noteworthy that Ali Abbas is the third goalkeeper for the Yemen national team participating in the "Gulf 25", as the main goalkeeper, Salem Al-Harish, was absent from the match due to injury, and the second goalkeeper, Muhammad Aman, was injured before the start of the confrontation, but the coach included him between the two halves.

Yemen bids farewell to the Gulf 25

The Yemeni national team bid farewell to the Gulf 25 competitions after receiving the second loss in the tournament, after losing the first match against Saudi Arabia 0-2, and in today's match, Yemen failed to maintain its 2-1 lead, so the match ended with a score of 3-2 for the Omani team.

The Oman national team opened the scoring in the second minute with a self-goal scored by Yemen defender Mohammed Saleh Al-Muslimi in his own net, before the Yemenis responded with two goals scored by Abdul Wasea Al-Matari in the 21st minute from a penalty kick, and Omar Al-Dahi in the 30th minute.
