Eintracht Frankfurt's captain Sebastian Rode plans to retire in the summer of 2024.

"I'm currently assuming that that will probably be the end of it," said the 32-year-old midfielder from the Hessian Bundesliga club in an interview with the "Bild" newspaper.

Rode, who has been thrown back again and again in his career due to numerous injuries, definitely wants to fulfill his contract with the Europa League winners, which runs until the end of the 2023/24 season.

"You never know in football, but it's my plan that it works for as long as possible," he said.

“I don’t want to walk around bent over at some point”

The back is currently pinching, the Eintracht captain reported in the training camp in Dubai.

"It's just that, the body takes its toll on it all.

And I don't want to walk around bent over at some point, I want to play with my children," explained Rode.

The midfielder first switched to Eintracht from Kickers Offenbach in 2010.

In 2014, FC Bayern Munich brought him in, with whom he won two German championships.

From the summer of 2016 he played for Borussia Dortmund for two and a half years, and since January 1, 2019 Rode has been in the service of Frankfurt again.
