The Yemeni national team embarrassed its Omani counterpart before losing to it 2-3 in the match that brought them together yesterday, at Basra Stadium, in the second round of the group stage for "Gulf 25".

Yemen left the tournament in the first round after receiving two losses from Saudi Arabia and Oman, which raised its balance to the fourth point and came very close to reaching the semi-finals of the tournament.

And the Omani national team achieved its best start when Ali Abbas managed to put him in the lead after only two minutes, from a corner kick that he rose above the defenders and kissed the hands of the Yemeni goalkeeper, and turned it with his head into the net.

And at a time when many expected that the match had become easier for the Omanis, after the quick goal, then the Yemeni team came back from afar and scored the equalizing goal from a penalty kick, which was committed by Juma Al Habsi, against Abdul Wasea Al-Matari, the referee did not hesitate to award it a penalty kick, and the player responded to it. The same and executed it successfully to the right of the guard «12».

The Yemeni team continued its adventures after the goal and missed more than one easy opportunity, before Omar Al-Dahi succeeded in turning the tables on the Omani Red, and scored the second goal with his surprise shot from outside the box, which settled to the left of the goalkeeper «30».

However, the Yemenis' joy with the goal of advancing did not last for more than seven minutes, as Arshad Al-Alawi managed to correct the situation and score the equalizing goal with a free kick. Goalkeeper Ali Abbas bears full responsibility.

Arshad Al-Alawi missed the opportunity for Oman to score the goal of progress (45).

With the start of the second half and from the first attack, Al-Ahmar was able to outperform the score, when Essam Al-Subhi scored the third goal for him, following a rebound from the crossbar, to complete it with his head into the net (47).

And in the calculated time instead of lost, the Yemeni team almost equalized from a penalty kick, which was missed by Muhammad Al-Dahi, thanks to Omani goalkeeper Ibrahim Al-Mukhaini, who saved the game.
