The President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, expressed his deep regret that some organizational matters had gone off track during the opening ceremony of the Gulf Cup "Gulf 25", which took place on Friday evening in the city of Basra.

Darjal said - in the statement - "The federation apologized to the Kuwaiti delegation for the difficulties it faced in entering the Palm Trunk Stadium and the resulting departure of the representative of the Emir of the State of Kuwait."

He added, "The Iraqi Federation and those in charge of organizing the tournament will take into account the need to avoid what happened, to ensure that the organizational process appears in the best way, starting from the matches of the second day of the tournament."

Kuwait had expressed its "deep regret" about the existence of organizational problems, and the federation protested what happened and the Kuwaiti delegation withdrew from the opening ceremony, but with confirmation of the continued participation of the national team.
