German ski jumper Katharina Althaus won the individual World Cup in Sapporo, Japan.

With attempts at 122 and 131 meters, the 26-year-old from Oberstdorf prevailed on Saturday ahead of Ema Klinec (Slovenia) and Eva Pinkelnig from Austria, who wears yellow.

For Althaus it was the eleventh World Cup victory and the third this winter.

At the New Year's tournament in Villach (Austria) and in Ljubno, Slovenia, however, she had not landed an individual success.

Selina Freitag (116.5 and 125.5 meters) took sixth place in Sapporo.

Behind Althaus and Freitag, three other jumpers from the team of national coach Maximilian Mechler made it into the points.

Pauline Hessler (17th), Anna Rupprecht (19th) and Luisa Görlich (21st) had nothing to do with the outcome of the competition.

Another competition is scheduled for Sunday (2:00 a.m. CET) in Sapporo.

Then it's on to Zao within Japan, where there will be jumping next weekend.
