- It is absolutely fantastic, absolutely wonderful.

It simply feels unreal, says Granerud to NRK.

Granerud finished with a jump of 143.5 meters in his final jump in Bischofshofen, the longest jump of the competition and won the heat on 313.4 points – 7.9 points ahead of runner-up Anze Lansiek of Slovenia.

The other competition locations were Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck.

Granerud had seven of the week's eight best jumps.

First Norwegian win in 16 years

Granerud is the first Norwegian to win the classic since 2007.

- It has been a little stressful but also very fun.

I have dreamed of being in this position all my life, says Granerud.

Both mother and father Granerud followed the competition and were interviewed by NRK.

- Even though it was a lower speed, it was almost a track record.

It's absolutely insanely good, says father Svein Granerud about the jump, which was 1.5 meters short of the hill record.
