19-year-old British Emma Raducanu has had an injury-riddled year since her US Open victory last fall, with a foot injury that bothered her last winter.

And earlier this month she was hampered by back problems, both at the Madrid and Rome competitions.

Despite that, she was a big favorite when she entered the French open women's singles for the first time in her career today.

She was pitted against a player who had never before won a match on the WTA tour: The 17-year-old qualifier Linda Noskova, ranked 184 in the world.

But it did not go at all as 12th-ranked Raducanu had hoped.

Raducanu struggled to kill the ball and made many simple mistakes, which led to her losing the match against an impressively calm and steady Noskova.
