Djokovic's decision not to vaccinate himself against covid-19 had sporting consequences for the Serbian world star.

This led, among other things, to the fact that last year, after a great uproar, he was sent home from Australia, deported from the country where he went to play the Australian Open grand slam tournament.

"Not his favorite person"

But while many condemned Djokovic, others stood behind him.

Like his former nemesis Nick Kyrgios.

Djokovic has not forgotten that when he is now welcome back in Australia.

After advancing to the quarter-finals of the Adelaide ATP tournament, less than two weeks before this year's Australian Open, the world number five is paying tribute to Kyrgios.

- For many years, I was not exactly his favorite person, if you say so, says Novak Djokovic, who was both called an idiot by Kyrgios and mocked for his way of celebrating victories, to the AFP news agency.

- But he was one of the few who supported me last year, and I respect and am grateful for that.

It is in such moments that you discover who actually stands behind you and who, I suppose, are just following the flow and media pressure.
