The final list of 30 players for the World Baseball Classic in March has been announced.

For the first time in history, three major leaguers have been named, including Ha-seong Kim and Ji-man Choi, in addition to Tommy Edmon, the first Korean player.

The most prominent name in the national team roster, consisting of 15 pitchers and 15 batters, is the 'Keystone Combi', which boasts the world's best defense.

Kim Ha-seong, a finalist for this year's Gold Glove, will play second baseman, and 2021 winner Tommy Edman will play shortstop to build an iron wall defense.

Edmund wrote a new history by becoming the first non-Korean player of Korean descent to be selected for the national team.

[Lee Kang-cheol/WBC national team coach: (Edman) is a player who played abroad together with Kim Ha-sung, so I think it suits him well as a keystone combination.

We plan to use (Edman and Ha-seong Kim) as starting pitchers.]

Choi Ji-man, who underwent elbow surgery two months ago, was also named for his strong will to participate, and home run king Park Byung-ho, who is recovering quickly from his injury, will compete in the WBC for the first time in his life.

Lee Jung-hoo, the league's top star, played a central role in the outfield, and the pitching staff was selected by 11 pitchers in their 20s, including veterans Kim Gwang-hyun and Yang Hyeon-jong, Koo Chang-mo and Sohn Joon-jun, to achieve harmony between old and new.

Coach Lee Kang-cheol said that the pitching staff was formed with a focus on the first game against Australia, the biggest match for passing the first round.

[Lee Kang-cheol: I knew that Australian batters were weak against swing trajectories, big swings, and forkball types, so I picked some pitchers that fit them.]

Ahn Woo-jin, who emerged as the best pitcher in the league, was excluded due to school violence in the past.
