Brazil mourns its legend.

The funeral wake of the famous Brazilian footballer Pelé took place on Monday 2 January.

A funeral wake at the Vila Belmiro stadium, in Santos, and to which many Brazilians came...including the mother of the "King".

However, the latter learned of the death of her son very late…

The world of football has been in mourning for a few days and the formalization of the death of "King" Pelé, a true monument of the round ball, following cancer at the age of 82.

An announcement made by the family of the legend, and in particular his sisters who are very active on social networks.

But someone in Pelé's family didn't know...

But Dona Celeste (100 years old), the mother of the man who is considered the best player in history, did not know that her son had died.

This was said by Maria Lucia do Nascimento (78), Pelé's little sister, in an interview with ESPN.

"She does not know"

"She doesn't know, we talked, but she doesn't know. She's fine, but she's in her own world (…) Sometimes I say: 'Dico (Pelé's nickname) is like that, but let's pray for him, isn't it, mum?'

Sometimes she opens her eyes… But she's not conscious," she told Brazilian television.

Dona Celeste was finally notified of this tragic disappearance… four days later.

The latter was seen among the people who came to say goodbye to Pelé.

Since the death of the "King", she had not yet seen her son on his deathbed.

The body of the "King" must remain exposed for 24 hours on the lawn of his heart club to allow the Brazilians to pay him a last tribute.

The funeral will take place privately on Tuesday afternoon.
