Many stars disappointed during the 2022 World Cup, which concluded last week in the State of Qatar, with the crowning of the Argentine national team at the expense of France, and presented lackluster and unexpected levels.

At a time when the World Cup in Qatar was an opportunity for some players to present themselves in a distinctive way and greatly increase their market value;

Others failed to invest in that tournament, and their shares and market value declined, although a number of them reached advanced roles in the tournament.

And we monitor the ten players who were affected by their lackluster performance, according to the “Transfermarkt” website, which specializes in data, statistics, and market players’ values.

Antoine Griezmann

The French star participated in all his country's matches in the World Cup in Qatar, and played various roles on the field, but at the offensive level he was not as effective as required.

During 7 matches in the last edition of the World Cup, Griezmann did not score any goal, and he settled for 3 assists for his teammates.

Although it;

The market value of the Atletico Madrid player decreased by 10 million euros, to 25 million.

Marco Asensio

Another player whose market value declined by 10 million euros, but this time from the Spain national team, which left the World Cup at the final price after losing to Morocco.

Asensio participated in the four "La Roja" matches, and scored one goal in the match in which his country's national team defeated Costa Rica 7-0, in the first round of the group stage.

This was the only contribution of the Real Madrid player with the Spain national team in the tournament, dropping his market value from 35 million euros to 25 million.

Yannick Carrasco

The Atletico Madrid star paid a high price for the shocking exclusion of the Belgium national team, from the first round, surprisingly, after finishing third in its group behind Morocco and Croatia.

The "Red Devils" team appeared in three matches, scored one goal, conceded two, and achieved a victory, a draw and a loss.

Given these data, the market value of Carrasco fell from 40 million euros, to settle at around 30 million.

Raphael Varane

Although the French national team reached the final of the World Cup in Qatar;

This was not enough for the Manchester United defender to maintain his market value.

Varane was unable to stop - or limit the danger - of Argentine Lionel Messi in the final match, as his teammate Hugo Lloris conceded two goals from the "flea", and a third from Angel Di Maria.

Varane's market value decreased by 8 million euros, to 40 million.

Ansu Fati

Another young Spaniard disappointed in the World Cup in Qatar, this time Barcelona striker Fati, who was relied upon by sacked coach Luis Enrique in only two matches.

During his participation, Fati did not provide the required addition, as his country lost to Japan in the third and final round of the group stage, and then to Morocco in the final price by penalty kicks.

Fati lost 10 million euros from his market value, to settle at 50 million.

Frankie de Young

The 25-year-old Dutch star was trusted by his coach, Louis van Gaal, who relied on him in all five “mills” matches.

De Jong managed to score a single goal, which was against Qatar, and bid farewell to the tournament in the quarter-finals, losing to Argentina on penalties.

Before the start of the World Cup, the market value of the Barcelona midfielder was 60 million euros, but it has now decreased to 50 million, although he presented good levels during the tournament.

Alexander Trent Arnold

Arnold is considered one of the best "backs" in the world, and yet England coach Gareth Southgate did not rely on him except for 33 minutes in the World Cup in Qatar, specifically against Wales in the third and final round of the group stage.

Because of this, Arnold lost 10 million of his market value, to settle at around 70 million.

A post shared by Bruno Fernandes (@brunofernandes8)

Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United's midfielder Bruno Fernandes was arguably the best player for Portugal at the last World Cup.

Bruno scored two goals in the tournament, hitting Uruguay's net, to ensure his country's rise to the second round, before exiting the competitions in the quarter-finals, with a loss from Morocco.

But all this did not help the Portuguese star to maintain - at least - his previous market value, to drop to 75 million euros, after it was 85 million.

Romelu Lukaku

The Inter forward's lackluster performance was an extension of Belgium's pale face at the World Cup, although he only featured in the final match against Croatia.

In that match, Lukaku missed at least two easy chances, one of which was enough to give his country a ticket to qualify for the next round.

Lukaku lost 15 million of his market value, to 55 million out of 70 before the start of the World Cup.

Joao Felix

Joao Felix, the star of Atletico Madrid, was the player who lost most of his market value, and one of the reasons for this may be that he did not participate permanently before the World Cup with his team, Atletico Madrid.

And with Portugal during the 2022 World Cup, Felix scored a single goal against Ghana, then left the tournament in the quarter-finals.

The Portuguese star lost 20 million of his market value, which was 70 million before the tournament, to reach only about 50.
