Canada did take the lead just over ten minutes into the first period through team captain Shane Wright, but then it was the Czech Republic for almost the entire penny.

Before the period was over, they had jumped out to a 2–1 lead which they extended to 3–1 early in the second.

Canada cut short through super-talent Connor Bedard soon after, but the joy was short-lived as they incurred a match penalty just minutes later and on the ensuing power play, the Czech Republic managed to poke in two pucks.

After that, Canada couldn't stand up and the giant scare was a fact.

- We are disappointed and have to look at ourselves in the mirror.

Now we have to manage to figure out a few things.

But I know we will respond to this, says Shane Wright according to the CBC.
