[Subtitles] In the early morning of December 25th, Wang Wenjiao, the former head coach of the Chinese badminton team who made outstanding contributions to the development of badminton in New China, died of illness in Beijing at the age of 89.

  [Subtitles] During Wang Wenjiao's tenure as the head coach of the Chinese badminton team, he led the team to win 56 world individual championships and 9 world team championships.

He also trained Yang Yang, Zhao Jianhua, Li Yongbo, Tian Bingyi and other famous badminton players.

  [Subtitle] In 1953, Wang Wenjiao followed the Indonesian Overseas Chinese Youth Sports Observation Group and was invited to participate in the National Four Ball Games held in Tianjin. In the friendly match, Wang Wenjiao defeated the then national champion.

  I felt uncomfortable at the time, why was it uncomfortable, because the country is so big and the level of badminton is so poor, so I didn't want to go back (Indonesia).

  [Subtitles] In 1954, Wang Wenjiao resolutely wrote a pledge of "never returning to Indonesia", embarked on a cruise ship back to China, and devoted himself to Chinese badminton.

  [Subtitles] In 1956, Fujian Province established China's first provincial-level badminton team, and then Shanghai, Guangdong, Tianjin, Hunan, and Hubei successively established teams.

The "Badminton" textbook co-written by Wang Wenjiao and Chen Fushou has also provided training guidance for badminton training teams across the country.

  [Subtitles] In 1982, Wang Wenjiao led the Chinese badminton team to the Thomas Cup. The Chinese team defeated the "seven champions" Indonesian team.

This is the first time that the Chinese badminton team has won the championship of a major world badminton event.
