In Liverpool's first match after the World Cup break, Mohamed Salah was eager to play.

Robin Olsen, who was in goal for Aston Villa in the absence of World Cup gold hero Emiliano Martinez, only managed to keep a clean sheet until the fifth minute, when the star put Liverpool 1-0 up.

The goal came after a well-placed ball from Andrew Robertson.

It was then Liverpool's advantage, and after just over half an hour the lead was extended.

It was then centre-back Virgil van Dijk who was up in the offensive penalty area and poked the ball into the goal to make it 2-0, which was the score at the break.

In the second half, Ollie Watkins reduced for Villa, but it turned out to be a goal that did little more than add to the numbers.

With just over 80 minutes played, Liverpool extended the lead.

Stefan Bajcetic was substituted and thus made his Premier League debut.

It wasn't long before he also scored his first PL goal.

After two minutes on the pitch, the 18-year-old stayed forward, close to Olsen, and placed the ball in with a wide side.

Bajcetic's goal was the last of the match and Liverpool started with an important victory after the World Cup break.
