Under a picture where several members of Pelé's family are sitting on a sofa, Kely Nascimento also writes that they are grateful for the care Pelé receives in the hospital.

"Even in sadness, we can only be grateful", she writes and continues:

"Thank you for being together, thank you for all your affection, thank you that I can be here now with him".

It is unclear whether Pelé's condition has worsened since Wednesday, when the hospital announced that his cancer had worsened.

The 82-year-old had surgery to remove a tumor in his colon last year.

At the end of November he was admitted to adjust the chemotherapy and during December he was also diagnosed with a respiratory infection.

On Wednesday, the hospital announced that there has been a "development" in his cancer and that his heart and kidney functions have deteriorated.

Pelé is considered by many to be the best soccer player of all time.

Among other things, he won WC gold in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
