Lorenzo Canonica equalized midway through the second period and early in the third Switzerland took the lead.
A goal signed by Kalle Väisänen took the match to extra time but in the three on three game, Switzerland was rewarded for having been the stronger team in the match.
Attilio Biasca got the puck in the slot and scored the decision, 3–2.
