Al-Ahly player suffers a cut in the cruciate ligament twice in one year

Al-Ahly, the leaders of the Egyptian Premier League, confirmed yesterday that the player, Akram Tawfiq, had cut the cruciate ligament of the knee for the second time this year, and that he had traveled to Austria to undergo surgery.

Tawfiq, 25, who is good at playing in several positions in defense and midfield, was injured during training on Friday morning, and Al-Ahly remained silent until late Saturday, despite press speculation that the Egyptian national team player would be seriously injured and absent for about six months.

Ahmed Abu Abla, Al-Ahly's doctor, said on the club's website that the tests confirmed that the player had a cut in the cruciate ligament.

Tawfiq suffered a cut in the cruciate ligament, but in the other leg, with the Egyptian national team during the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon last January.

He returned to play about two months ago and played 11 matches this season with Al-Ahly, scoring one goal.

Tawfiq wrote a message via Instagram earlier today, in which he said that he accepts the "affliction", and denied what was raised about his colleague Mahmoud Abdel Moneim (Kahraba) causing the injury, indicating that there was no contact between them in training.
