In constant rain, the Kölner Haie lost their second outdoor game of the season and suffered a setback in the fight for a direct playoff ticket in the German Ice Hockey League.

The Rhinelanders lost 1:2 (0:0, 1:1, 0:1) against Pinguins Bremerhaven on Thursday and are currently only eighth in the table with 46 points.

Bremerhaven is in fifth place with 54 points.

After the Haie had won the Winter Game in front of more than 40,000 spectators in the Cologne football stadium against the Adler Mannheim at the beginning of December, this time even a temporary lead by Mark Olver (26th) was not enough for them to win.

Christian Wejse (39') and Antti Tyrväinen (47') turned the game around.

The rain was disruptive and made it difficult to play on the ice in front of 14,352 spectators.

The second third had to start ten minutes late because the ice machine had to be on the field again.

On January 8th, Cologne will play another open-air game against Augsburg.

Until then, the ice surface in the RheinEnergieStadion will also be open to the public, popular sports and schools for ice skating.
